Akasha Yoga Academy - Yoga Teacher Training





What You Can Expect:

The foundation of the Akasha Yoga Academy is based on classical Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, the wisdom of Advaita Vedanta and Spiritual Heart Meditation.  You will discover how to harmonize your heart and mind, combine rational understanding with deep rooted practice and start cultivating the awareness of the present moment.  Inspiration, passion, authenticity, and enthusiasm are the foundations the academy lives by.  Exploring the yin and yang through Hatha Yoga, you will be taught 28 classical postures, combining traditional static holding of poses and the dynamic flow of sun salutations.  You will exercise control over body, mind and energy, while developing a surge of awareness.



Why The Training Is Exceptional:

The training is designed to provide key elements that will empower you to become a successful yoga instructor and extensive knowledge of techniques, skillful  abilities in correction and adjustment, firm understanding of yoga philosophy and development of leadership skills.  The academy has a very high conversion rate of graduates who have gone on to teaching directly after graduating.

The Schedule Of Classes:

The full course covers a 4 week period.  The teaching hours are Monday through Saturday from 06.15AM to 6PM.  The day usually starts with meditation and a Hatha Yoga practice followed by breakfast and morning theory classes.  During the lunch breaks, students are allowed to rest and study.  The afternoon consists of a second theory class and another practice.

The first half of the training will build a solid foundation for theory and practice while the second half will concentrate on development of teaching skills.

Their one-month intensive course is structured this way:

Practice:

Warm up exercises, 28 essential postures, sun salutations, breath awareness, spiritual heart meditation, pranayama and bandha practices and introduction to yogic purification, diet and Ayurveda.



Theories:

·Yoga subtle anatomy analysis (seven chakras, nadis, the five bodies)
·Scripture study (Bhagavad Gita & Yoga, Patanjali Yoga Sutras)
·Yama & Niyama (modern re-interpretation of the morals and ethics of Yoga)
·Classic Paths of Yoga (Jnana, Bhakti, Karma and Raja Yoga)

Methodologies:

·Holding Space: presentation skills, voice training, rhetoric and body language.
·The Art Of Touch: correction & adjustment training, introduction to Thai Yoga Massage.
·Guided Teaching Experience: Five practical sessions with peer feedback and evaluation by experienced supervisors.

Deep Energy Based Hatha Yoga & Spiritual Heart Meditation:

An intensive practice of asana, pranayama and meditation can prompt transformation on many levels, increase body awareness, add strength and flexibility, improve health and vitality, activate subtle energies and chakras, bring balance and harmony of emotions and develop a clearer, sharper, more focused mind.  Your physical asana practice along with meditation can lead to a very profound journey toward yourself and into the present.

Understanding Yoga:

This is an extensive understanding of the philosophy, history and metaphysical aspects of yoga.  The lectures offer a clear look at a way of life while presenting inspirational teachings of yoga in a very understandable way.  The teachers will relate the ancient wisdom of yoga to our modern day perspective.  Students will learn to integrate both theory and practice and apply it to their every day lives.
